What is Neck Pain?
Neck pain is a painful condition in the anatomical region surrounding the neck that impairs quality of life. Neck pain can worsen with head movements. Straining of spasmed muscles causes pain. The pain can be muscle-related, bone-related, or due to disc pathologies.
What Causes Neck Pain?
Neck pain can be caused by various factors such as muscle spasms, trauma, or a herniated disc in the neck. A herniated disc can cause nerve compression, leading to referred pain. Muscle spasms, on the other hand, manifest as stiffness in the muscles around the neck and intense pain that occurs with movement.
How to Relieve Neck Pain?
Muscle spasms caused by neck pain can be relieved with heat application. Muscle relaxants and painkillers are recommended. If tablets are insufficient, injections are given. Physical therapy methods are also helpful in relieving neck pain.
